It has a stunning and talented cast, mesmerizing cinematography, an engaging and compelling plot that keeps you hooked begging for the next episode, complex/dimensional characters, quotable writing, and even comic relief. Love them all. The supporting cast is also superb as they tell their own stories in this conflicted time. This is my first time watching a KDrama. Her betrothed wasn’t even supposed to go to her house before the marriage took place because of cultural norms, the butcher was the lowest of society along with our slave born hero. The writer leads us to believe there is great feeling between the two main actors; yet, there is no climactic result, resolution or forever-love, physical culmination between the two in love. It has a stunning and talented cast, mesmerizing cinematography, an engaging and compelling plot that keeps you hooked begging for the next episode, complex/dimensional characters, quotable writing, and even comic relief. It’s slow at the beginning but I find it as essential to build up the purpose of each characters.

It’s definitely geared to Korean audiences, but is it entertaining enough for Americans to watch? Even though you really have to pay attention to follow the plot/subplots, it's still a 10/10 show for me.

He has stoic charisma and you knoe that he is there but his present is even weaker ever to Kim Tae Ri. As a writer I appreciated KES story telling style how she got us attached to all the characters as they lived their mundane lives and then suddenly it’s all interrupted and we see everything go wrong and even worse is the thought that it all really happened.

Keep checking Rotten Tomatoes Fine photography superb acting by all characters. K-dramas are so much better than most American shows now and this is a prime example of a K-drama. This Mr. Sunshine is a Korean drama about the unlikely romance between a U.S. Marine from a region from Joseon. Beautiful scenes and a very good script with pretty good chara. I was waiting fervently each week for the new episodes to air.

All five of them were great together, individually, each of them carried his own character with conviction. And I liked the mix of capable and troubled leading characters all trying to find their own way to deal with the difficult situation in Joseon.

Go Ae-shin (Kim Tae-ri) is an aristocrat whose grandfather was the emperor’s teacher! This drama was a masterpiece and I for one never had a problem with the pacing. The Korean cinema industry has been able to create great productions over the years and watch a lot of audiences.
