I've only been to Gruene once and went to the ever popular Gristmill while there. Really good restaurant for lunch or dinner. Since 1977.
We walked in at 12:30 expecting to wait for a table. Review tags are currently only available for English language reviews. Not a fan of the gristmill (lived here for 34 years now). The bacon wrapped filet gorgon gorgonzola is to die for.
We will be back. They have an assortment of typical Texas fare which could be found most places, however they don't have the ambiance or those wine coolers. Appetizers are great as well.
I personally prefer Gruene River Grill - their jalapeno corn chowder is the best! I ordered the Jalapeno crawfish chowder. Gruene River Grill is open Sunday – Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., and until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. We went with Gruene River Grill- we thoroughly enjoyed it. Full-service bar includes premium liquors, frozen margaritas, locally brewed craft beers and an extensive wine list. Outstanding food, great atmosphere, the best service. Staying in New Braunfells TX and this restaurant was recommended as a place for lunch, the location and views overlooking the river are great and Jake our waiter was on his first day ! But the chicken may have been grilled earlier in the day as it was as cold as the lettuce! glad you liked it....side note: clear springs restaurant has the exact same jalapeno corn chowder!
