I don’t like “is something” in the first sentence and “was an option that” in the second. ... that she SHOULD see a doctor. At other times, the stem vowel in a strong verb might change in the past tense but not in the past participle, such as arise, which becomes arose in the past tense but arisen in the past participle (as in he has arisen.) In other cases, the usually unaccented word becomes accented as a means of stressing that something is contrary to what is understood by others. So timely! Good for her!
